Projects
Our company has been part of research work as well as damage assessments for adjusting companies. Our aim has is to adapt to each case to deliver confident and reliable results. Our reports are generated based on scientific procedures to ensure quality and methodic processes. The use of geo-statistics as well as Geo-Information Science is key to delivering accurate results based on the available information.

Earthquake Damage Assessment
On April 4th 2010, a major earthquake of 7.2 magnitude on the Richter Scale hits CONAGUA's (Mexican Water Bureau) hydraulic infrastructure. IDA & RM as a consultant, develops a framework for surveying and assessing damages, as well as aiding in the loss estimation. As a final stage of the consultancy, damage maps were developed for our client. Damage assessments were based on forensic engineering, as well as GIS analysis damages were classified based on the cause, enabling loss estimation to be based only on those caused by the earthquake.

Precipitation Thresholds
Research
As part of aiding on an academic research project funded by the EU, precipitation data was analyzed to determine thresholds at which floods and landslides occur in the county of Buzau, Romania. To do so, a semi-automated threshold fitting model was developed. At the same time, the probability of landslide occurrence was determined for when the thresholds are exceeded. Data quality was assessed following auditing procedures to determine the suitability of precipitation datasets to be used.

Flood/Landslide Vulnerability
Research
A research project on expressing the uncertainties in building vulnerability to Hydro-meteorological hazards, emphasizing on Landslides and floods was carried out in Buzau, Romania. This was assessed by developing a weighting method based on expert opinion using the building characteristics and comparing the resultant to pre-existing vulnerability curves. One of the aims of the research was to determine if this method would be suitable for carrying out the risk assessment in the area.

Mexico
Damage Assessment /
Loss Estimation
As part of Mexico's resilience to Natural Hazards, the National Disaster Fund has been implemented over the years. This time, IDA&RM is part of the ongoing efforts to assesses damages in those states that have been, and will be struck by Natural Disasters. Our team consists of 10 Junior Consultants, as well as 4 Chief Consultants, with which we will bring accurate Damage Assessment and Loss Estimation to our clients thorugh out the period of 2014-2015.
2014
Sinaloa, Mexico
Damage Assessment
Forensic Engineering
After Norbert and Odile left severe precipitation over the state of Sinaloa, IDA&RM was called to dictaminate whether damages on the surface of the Highway from Mazatlan to Culiacán were indeed the result of such hydrometeorological phenomena. Through the use of remote sensed imagery, geo-spatial analysis and our knowledge on both natural hazards and infrastructure, we were able to deliver accurate information to our client Allianz.

Mexico
Damage Assessment /
Loss Estimation
As a second year running, IDA&RM was renovated the contract to be part of post-disaster damage assessment and loss estimation for the National Disaster Fund, on behalf of reinsurer's who once again have deposited their trust in our work.

Loss Estimation
After Norbert and Odile left severe precipitation over the state of Jalisco, IDA&RM was called to dictaminate and estimate the loss produced by landslides along drainage infrastructure of Guadalajara - Tepic Highway. Through the use of remote sensed imagery, geo-spatial analysis and our knowledge on both natural hazards and infrastructure, we were able to deliver accurate information to our client Allianz.

Nuevo Leon, Mexico
Forensic Engineering /
Loss Estimation
After a thunderstorm that struck the city of Monterrey in the State of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, IDA&RM was assigned to assess damages of electric utility lines. Through our experts on Electric facilities, we were able to determine cause, and provide insights on the origin of the claim.

Hail Storm
Roof Damage Assessment
The City of Ciudad Juarez was struck by an unusual hailstorm. Hail the size of softballs struck several roof systems amongst various Industrial Parks owned by Prologis. IDA&RM assessed damages through engineering, as well as remote sensors, placed on a drone. With this, we provided damage density maps to our costumer for a deep insight on how the insured asset interacted with the hazard. We provided statistical and numerical models to validate our findings, to provide accurate and reliable results.

H. Patricia
Hotel Damage Assessment
After Hurricane Patricia struck the states of Colima and Jalisco, IDA&RM was appointed to locate C.R.E.S.T.A.s in both states. In addition, damage assessments were carried out at Hotel and Residential resorts in the por of Manzanillo. The use of remote sensors mounted on a Drone were used to assess damages to roofs, quantifying and providing aerial photography of the affected areas.
